As Realtors, many of you know the monthly struggle of having an inconsistent and unpredictable income. Some months you close 2 or 3 deals and others absolutely nothing. Realtors are told to rely on referrals, posting on social media, Zillow, MLS, conduct open houses, and network with family and friends. Even though marketing is not a tangible asset, it doesn’t mean its not just as important – in fact it is crucial. And while many businesses are prepared to invest in hardware and overhead, when it comes to marketing, they often fail to see the value in it, or invest as little as they can, and that often leads to an inconsistent and unpredictable income and in some cases complete business failure.

Even though it may take 1, 2 or even 3 months before you start seeing a return on your marketing investment, after that, your business will stabilize and grow. So don’t give up early if you don’t see instantaneous results. Cultivating leads will pay off if you do it consistently.

Marketing Training: If you choose to train yourself, I would highly recommend you learn how to become a social media advertising expert. Mastering social media ads is not nearly as easy as it sounds, and many Realtors have tried and failed at it. The fact is many businesses fail at social media advertising regardless of the industry. But if you get the right training and hone your skills, this can be a very valuable asset to your Realty business and help you get a consistent flow of booked call appointments if done right. Just keep in mind you will need to split your time between marketing and showing houses / closing deals.

Outsource Marketing: If you choose to outsource your marketing, make sure to choose a company that specializes in generating buyer and seller leads specifically for Realtors. Make sure the company you deal with ensures the leads are exclusive and prequalified, and that they can actually book appointments for you with follow-ups. What’s great about this is that it allows you to focus your time and efforts on doing what you do best which is selling homes. There’s plenty more to discuss here but those are the basics.

Selling homes is a passion that most Realtors possess.
